Ingredients For the Candied Oranges:
3–4 medium oranges (preferably seedless, like navel oranges)
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup water

Optional: 1 teaspoon coconut oil (for smoother dipping)

Instructions 1. Prepare the Oranges
Wash the oranges thoroughly to remove any wax or residue.
Slice the oranges into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch or 3 mm thick). Remove any seeds but keep the peel intact.
2. Make the Candied Oranges
In a large skillet or saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to form a syrup.
Add the orange slices to the syrup in a single layer (you may need to work in batches).
Simmer the orange slices gently over low heat for 40–50 minutes, flipping occasionally, until the peels are translucent.
Carefully transfer the slices to a wire rack placed over parchment paper to cool and dry. Let them dry for 12–24 hours (until they’re tacky but no longer wet).
3. Melt the Chocolate
Place the chopped chocolate (and coconut oil, if using) in a heatproof bowl.
Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave:
Double Boiler: Place the bowl over a saucepan with simmering water (don’t let the bowl touch the water). Stir until melted and smooth.
Microwave: Heat the chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth.
4. Dip the Oranges
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Dip each candied orange slice halfway into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off.
Place the dipped slices on the parchment-lined sheet. Sprinkle with optional garnishes (sea salt, nuts, or coconut) before the chocolate sets.
5. Let the Chocolate Set
Allow the chocolate to cool and harden at room temperature (or refrigerate for faster setting).
